- 0:00 That's a very fascinating topic, Avery.
- 0:02 And what um this really makes me think about is uh when you discuss the lower threshold for warfare that comes as a role of this autonomous technology because when you look at warfare just 20, 30 years ago, it was heavily boots on the ground.
- 0:13 Even with the technology we had then, we still had soldiers being deployed around the world uh and in these global conflicts.
- 0:19 But now with these technologies, like you said, um it doesn't require soldiers really to go into the front lines to sacrifice as much of risk of their lives in those in these um conflicts.
- 0:29 So it does, and I think it does make warfare um more easier.
- 0:33 It makes the it makes the it kind of makes it more inflammable because uh it's just technology that would be risking the loss of and not as much human life.
- 0:40 But at the same time, that results in higher and quicker escalations of war and conflict.
- 0:44 And another aspect of this is when you look at um the military technology industries, uh it's a trillion dollars, trillions of dollars in America, and it makes me wonder um because there's so much money put into the industry and so much um so much um financial uh investments at stake, will this uh acceleration of development ever cease to exist?
- 1:03 Because there's going to be a point where um human life is no longer even risked in warfare at to some extent, um, but still those technologies are still getting better and more dangerous and um and just more destructive more destructive, and that's not a good pairing when warfare is eas more easily um occurring through that lower threshold of conflict as you had mentioned.
- 1:21 So that's a very interesting and fascinating topic and something to look forward to in these coming years to keep in mind.
