- 0:00 It's everybody.
- 0:01 Today I was just kind of um sitting around and thinking, and I wanted to bring up this topic called algorithmic marginal utility.
- 0:07 Um So marginal utility is kind of this phenomenon in economics where um kind of the the it's called decreasing marginal utility, and it's the more that you um utilize a product, the less sort of um the less use, the less gratification you get from it over time, the more you use it.
- 0:23 And we're kind of seeing this phenomenon applied to the human experience through the use of AI technology.
- 0:28 Um it's actually very fascinating because in this kind of uh uh modern world of optimization and autumn automation from AI technology, everything's incredibly easy to do.
- 0:38 It takes mere seconds to have any sort of information at your fingertips, getting tasks on you can utilize AI to do anything for you, and it's kind of really removed the the need for hard work, the need for um a process um and in l uh in life, and uh the result of that is um what is called algorithmic marginal utility, where um people are suffering from sort of these this this lack of fulfillment, this lack of um um satisfaction from the work they're doing because AI is doing everything for you.
- 1:07 There's no there's no process, there's no hard work, there's no gratification of doing something and seeing your own work um kind of come to fruition.
- 1:14 Um and and as AI continues to advance it, it only keeps removing these parts of the human experience that of life that are gotta find that that you get fulfillment from.
- 1:22 Um, because just because something is easy does not mean that it is good, and AI is um slowly and surely teaching us uh that that very pertinent fact.
- 1:31 Um because uh the more that things get easier, the more faster the life gets, the uh kind of the the the the the less happy we get and the less utility we get from the things that we do.
- 1:41 Um so there is um merits to hard work, there's merits to hands-on experiences and doing things yourselves, um, and that's kind of where true satisfaction and true gratification in life comes from.
- 1:51 And that is what algorithmic marginal utility is teaching us today.
- 1:54 So please let me know your thoughts on that in the comments below.
- 1:57 Thank you.
