  1. 0:00 So obviously a prominent discussion on this app as I'm just scrolling through a bunch of posts is kind of freedom of speech, political censorship on social media, etc.
  2. 0:12 And obviously the most recent event that's you know causing this discussion was the Charlie Kirk assassination and kind of all the turmoil that followed after it.
  3. 0:24 We saw with you know Jimmy Kimmel getting temporarily fired due to pressure from the government and this whole thing with the visas and but you know it's been an ongoing thing whenever there's kind of prominent issues.
  4. 0:40 We saw it with the Palestine um versus Israel topic.
  5. 0:46 There's always gonna be topics that you know people feel very passionately about and therefore lead to political censorship.
  6. 0:57 And in my opinion, I think that political censorship is almost never okay because the more it happens the more at risk we put the very ideals that we founded our country on and you know whether people see it or not, it can lead to a very very dangerous direction.
  7. 1:18 However, I do think there's one instance in which censorship is okay, and that is when there is an individual or a group of individuals who are genuinely at risk, like their safety is at risk.
  8. 1:32 For instance, if social media is being used for a bunch of hate speech that is promoting essentially like injuring or even as far as killing groups of people, obviously that should you know be taken down and also investigated because you know as a country want to we want safety for all of our citizens, or that's what we should want.
  9. 1:58 However, I think that taking down or punishing people for expressing opinions that maybe like harm some people's opinions or feelings, but aren't actually putting anyone at risk.
  10. 2:15 Taking that stuff down is when the lines start to get blurred, and in my opinion, that's kind of is what happening right now is is what's happening right now, and I don't like the direction that our country is going in this regard.
  11. 2:32 I feel like we've always been a country that's fought for our freedom of speech, and I don't know, things this is kind of getting scary.
  12. 2:40 So let me know your thoughts.
