- 0:00 Heinz, I think you brought up a very interesting topic, and that's one that definitely needs to be addressed.
- 0:06 The belt line would be a significant improvement to the transit system in Atlanta because right now, obviously, with Marta and how our highways are structured, the infrastructure of Atlanta is not meant to be a walkable city.
- 0:25 It's meant to be a car-dependent town.
- 0:29 There's not many places in Atlanta where you can walk around freely from home living to entertainment to necessities such as food.
- 0:40 There's just not many places to do that.
- 0:42 So I think the addition of the belt line would be a significant improvement in that realm.
- 0:49 Really making our town seem more like some of these other bigger towns, such as New York or Miami or just things like that, more much more walkable.
- 1:01 Another interesting thing I had to bring up was when you look in the correlation of walking towns to just public health in general, there's definitely a significant correlation in that.
- 1:18 Some of these look at Spain, for example.
- 1:20 There's some cities in Spain where they're primarily walking-based travel.
- 1:28 And I think it has definitely a tremendous impact on the health of its of its people.
- 1:44 And I think adding that to Atlanta would tremendously benefit uh Atlanta's uh natives.
- 1:51 Uh just being able to walk uh throughout town and get all forms of what you need uh from necessity, food, travel, clothing, uh, housing, I think that's gonna be a really big change.
- 2:08 And while we can't change the infrastructure of Atlanta anymore, how it's structured with our highways and our uh the lack of rail system, I think the belt line will be the necessary addition that can change how people even view Atlanta and will definitely improve the quality of life here.
- 2:32 So, yeah, great point.
