  1. 0:00 So yeah, I think one of the most important um things that you're touching on here is how the playing field is kind of set by where the money is going and the important topics get the most money or important topics to these large industries like pharma and tech and whatnot.
  2. 0:22 And then when you think about, you know, these are a very small group of individuals that are donating all this money and they get the vast majority of attention.
  3. 0:30 You see this in our media too, where like the most polarizing issues, they may affect a sliver of the population, but they dominate headlines.
  4. 0:39 And um the same thing kind of happens here.
  5. 0:41 It's a very small group of people paying a lot of money, and then it just completely dominates what's going on with the others.
  6. 0:49 So yeah, you know, I it money in politics has reached a completely new level now.
  7. 0:55 You know, I mentioned this in one of my comments on Carl's topic um discussion about transparency and donor disclosure.
  8. 1:04 Um but these packs will donate and in some of these small races like Senate races or governor races, I mean they're very big elections, but you'll see an average of two to three million per campaign, and then one guy has sixteen million donated to him, and it can be traced back to uh you know an issue that really only affects those people, and then it completely steals a seat from somebody over one issue because a bunch of people throw a bunch of money at it.
  9. 1:31 So I wonder um it it's hard to not let people put their money where their mouth is, but it's unfortunate to see how much sway it has on our elections.
