Trumps AI Action Plan

  1. 0:00 So this past Wednesday, Trump signed three executive orders and he outlined an AI action plan.
  2. 0:05 So his executive orders were basically just easy federal regulations that makes it much easier to build data centers infrastructures in the US, mandating that the federal government uses AI without ideological biases.
  3. 0:22 And within this executive order, he referenced specifically DEI and climate change.
  4. 0:28 And then one of his other executive orders was leveraging uh like low interest loans and grants, so basically just financial incentives that kind of aim at supporting the implementation of US developed AI systems.
  5. 0:40 So this is pretty interesting.
  6. 0:42 Um I'm a pretty big fan of the first one in regards to controlling data center infrastructure because I think that is the key to ensuring that your data and information is um secure.
  7. 0:56 You know, if you're leasing these data infrastructures, say to China or overseas, um, it's much easier for hackers or other people to get to your data.
  8. 1:08 So I'm a fan of that.
  9. 1:09 A huge downside of that is when you increase the data infrastructure that we have on home soil, you're also gonna need to increase the amount of electricity that you use, um, which is gonna spill over to taxpayers, and we the US citizens are gonna have to pay um for this higher electricity use.
  10. 1:27 So mandating that.
  11. 1:30 So I'm in favor of that.
  12. 1:32 Um, mandating that the federal government only uses AI without ideological biases.
  13. 1:36 Huge fan of this.
  14. 1:38 Um, I think within the government, obviously, like separation of church and state, there should not be ideological biases within whatever the government is using.
  15. 1:49 Um, so fan of of that.
  16. 1:52 And then leveraging uh financial incentives is more just a way to push people in the US to develop AI systems.
  17. 2:02 So um, those are his executive orders, and then he also created an AI action plan, which basically the three pillars of that is accelerating AI innovation, building infrastructure on home soil, and then leading an international AI diplomacy and security.
  18. 2:17 So his executive orders kind of coincide with the first two pillars of his AI action plan.
  19. 2:22 Uh, but the third one, leading in international AI diplomacy and security is pretty interesting just because it seems like Trump is trying to become the number one exporter of UI US AI um systems, and he would like to beat out China in this AI race.
  20. 2:39 So I think there's a huge downside in one, just overall having a you or a race to see who can become the best at AI, who can um really control whatever AI systems the world is using, just because one, whoever controls it uh 100% will be able to gain much more information on their users, uh, which obviously countries can exploit.
  21. 3:02 And two, um, as we've seen like China do with Deep Seek, it's very easy for governments uh and countries to have these AI systems block out uh huge events and basically erase parts of history if you weren't able to access the wide web and you just had access to whatever AI system.
  22. 3:21 Um so I think misspread of information is gonna be huge uh in the next couple months um with this plan.
  23. 3:28 So yeah.
