  1. 0:00 So I was playing Mario Kart um last night and it got me thinking about how far both video games and technology have come just in the last ten years.
  2. 0:10 And I think the one thing that gets lost in all that is uh how much more difficult parenting is now more than ever.
  3. 0:17 I mean it's always been a hard job, but now there's just so much more isolation.
  4. 0:22 Even if you look at things like the Wii, which is what I grew up on, um, even when you play that, that involves being with your buddies, interacting with people.
  5. 0:30 Whereas now, all this new technology just sucks you into your own world.
  6. 0:34 And I don't know.
  7. 0:35 I think parenting is harder than more is harder than it's ever been um now.
  8. 0:40 Um and I really don't know how you go about navigating that.
  9. 0:43 I mean, there's different regulations you can talk about for the future, as I mean, this technology is only gonna keep growing and changing, and um, you know, it's it's a parent's job to you know to instill in their kids those experiences that every child should have as they're growing up instead of you know giving them this technology to so that they don't have to pay attention and worry about them.
  10. 1:05 Um and I don't know, I don't know what those regulations might be, but I do think that um now more than ever, um you know, youth sports playing instruments is more important than it's ever been.

  1. 0:00 Casey, I absolutely agree that parenting is at an all-time high in difficulty right now.
  2. 0:05 I especially look back at the point with stimulation and TV.
  3. 0:11 I think back then cartoons were such low stimulating that the kids held their attention spans.
  4. 0:17 And nowadays it's all high frequency uh shorts that cause kids to lose their attention.
  5. 0:24 And parents are having difficulty keeping their kids focused because of some of these things.
  6. 0:31 And interaction, like you said, I know that we used to all get together and just play as friends, and now everyone has their own switch, everyone has their own Xbox that they're just they're in their own world or iPads.
  7. 0:45 I mean, I remember when I was a kid, I would have an iPad, but I would only be allowed to download five or ten games and no access to the internet, and that would, I mean, that would keep me occupied.
  8. 0:58 But nowadays, these kids are so smart that they're out smarting their parents and they understand how to evade prancel controls and just have full access to the internet, which can really harm most kids' minds.
  9. 1:12 And another thing is we're now having an epic epidemic of an increase of mental health issues in younger children because they're accessing things that they should not be exposed to at a such a young age.
  10. 1:26 I mean, having access to the internet and some of the things that content creators are posting nowadays is frying most kids' minds.
  11. 1:35 I mean, it's really not acceptable uh what's going on.
  12. 1:40 Yeah, I think you made a very thorough point about uh the internet and why I believe that social media should be extremely limited to children.
  13. 1:50 And there's actually an app I think coming from Dude Perfect, which it's a streaming service that only allows content they approve.
  14. 2:00 And I think regulations like that or similar apps that parents can give to kids would really help uh kind of control their access to the internet and just what they see.
  15. 2:12 I think kids need to be restricted.
  16. 2:16 Um I think at a young age, they they just should not be witnessing some of the things they do right now.
  17. 2:24 And I think it it really has shown its effects on especially the mental health of children right now.
  18. 2:31 So, yeah, great point.
