  1. 0:00 What's up, y'all?
  2. 0:01 Um today we're gonna talk about the current situation in Lebanon.
  3. 0:05 Um I am a Lebanese citizen, um so I have I have a little bit of bias about this topic, but I feel like it's important to talk about um to shed light on a a little beacon of hope in the Middle East with all that's going on right now between Palestine and Israel or Hamas and Israel.
  4. 0:22 Um I feel like Lebanon has been overshadowed drastically um by that conflict and by the Iranian process proxy Hezbollah.
  5. 0:31 Um re just recently in January, uh, Lebanon elected its first president since 2023, so first time in two years.
  6. 0:39 Um and he he's he's trying to make a change.
  7. 0:41 Um he's targeted Hezbollah after the death of uh Hassan Nasrella, their their supreme leader.
  8. 0:47 Um and and the goal really is to take back the country from from outside influences.
  9. 0:51 Like Iran has had its hand in Lebanon's pocket for the past 30, 40 years, and you know, a lot of the economic and political corruption and disruption has been because of external forces.
  10. 1:03 And the people of Lebanon have been struggling.
  11. 1:06 Um but the fact that the new president is targeting Hezbollah, he's trying to disarm them.
  12. 1:11 Um he's working on economic relations with their neighbors, uh, with the powers of the Middle East, like the Emirates, United Arab Emirates, Saudi.
  13. 1:19 Um I think it's a it's a good change for Lebanon to get back to their to their uh to their glory days.
  14. 1:24 I think Lebanon used to be called the Paris of the Middle East.
  15. 1:27 Um it's a beautiful country geographically, um location-wise, it's great, it's right in the Mediterranean coast.
  16. 1:33 So there's a lot of potential for economic growth, uh, social growth, political growth.
  17. 1:38 Um it's a really good time for the country as long as peace stands, and really being a partially Christian and partially Muslim country, I think the main key to success in that country is if both Christians and Muslims come together to fight for economic security, political justice, and you know uh a global recognition from other countries.
  18. 2:02 And I think if Lebanon is a stabilized country in the Middle East, then then the rest of the situation with uh Israel Hamas will will be stabilized as well as they get through their peace talks.
  19. 2:13 So yeah.
