- 0:00 Yeah, Carl, um, it's an interesting topic you bring up.
- 0:03 And I think even in my life, I've seen betting all around me with people I know, um, as well as just media, um, definitely skyrocket, especially in the last five years.
- 0:15 Um, and definitely part of that is due to just the rise of technology.
- 0:18 I mean, it's just easier for I like you talked about illegal betting.
- 0:22 It's just easier to organize that in a legal manner, um, outside of just you know, m money under the table, or if you are underage, just go into your buddies and putting $50 on the game or something like that.
- 0:35 But where you have these books um and stuff like that.
- 0:38 And I was just thinking about your question of like how do we how can you even regulate that?
- 0:43 Um and I don't know, I feel like as parents, because you said there's such a big um it's such a big issue amongst young kids these days, um, kids who are underage to even legally bet, kids who are not financially smart, who don't think about consequences, um, and maybe who don't even value money as much as um people who actually work for that money do.
- 1:06 Um and I think I don't know, I would say a lot of times you have to it comes down to the methods of where you see these payments going out on a consistent basis.
- 1:17 Um so maybe monitoring your kids' Venmo, something like that, to where you see weekly or biweekly he's paying someone you don't know on Venmo um a certain amount of money, and then you get into ethical questions of like, well, how much monitoring should you even do of your kids?
- 1:33 Should you you should just be able to trust your kids and stuff like that.
- 1:36 Um so I don't know exactly what the correct solution for that is.
- 1:42 Um, but I do definitely think that is a huge issue amongst um underage kids because that can put them in holes financially to where they may not be able to pay, and then it gets yeah, it becomes the parents' burden or a friend's burden.
- 1:57 Um that can just be a real slippery slope um for for someone, especially if you know they get in trouble with the wrong person.
- 2:05 Um, it was very interesting topic.
