- 0:00 Alright, um today I kind of want to talk about a topic that I've thought about for a while, and I keep kind of you know picking sides and switching kind of based on the day.
- 0:12 Um so kind of the question that I personally am thinking about a lot is like if you are a wealthy person, do you have the right to um be wasteful?
- 0:23 For example, let's say you have a lot of money and you go to a restaurant and you buy a massive plate of food.
- 0:30 You paid for the food, um, therefore you you do incur like a payment of some sort, but you decide you don't want to eat the food that you bought for whatever reason.
- 0:40 It's not what you thought it was, it's you're done, you're just not hungry anymore, so then you throw away that plate of food.
- 0:46 Whereas throughout your community, there's tons of people who would have done a lot of things to get that food.
- 0:50 Right?
- 0:51 So there's that example, there's the example in real life where Taylor Swift flies her jet everywhere, and it's simply kind of this debate that I keep having in my mind where it's like these people work to get this money, they do, and it is their money and it is within their rights to use this money however they want, but it is kind of a question of does that then give them the ability to, you know, um use it in what some would consider wasteful ways.
- 1:20 Um and so I feel like it's kind of just a responsibility thing and balancing, you know, risk and cost with um gain.
- 1:32 So if if you know these people are valuing what they get from using this, these resources more than they do the impact of them, you know, it's definitely a topic that should be debated more.
- 1:45 So I'm looking forward to hearing some responses on you know either side of this argument on whether it is okay for people to spend their money and be a little wasteful with it because they did earn it.
- 1:55 They do have those rights, but also should take into account that maybe they are they are having environmental or social impacts.
