- 0:00 Yeah, Gaines, this is a really interesting topic.
- 0:03 Um my parents were both immigrants from Lebanon.
- 0:06 They came here illegally.
- 0:07 It took them a while to get their citizenship.
- 0:09 Um my opinion on this topic is yes, I mean, we're paying US taxpayer dollars to um deport these people, I think in in the most humane way possible.
- 0:23 Uh however, it we shouldn't be paying US taxpayer dollars, in my opinion.
- 0:30 But I think this is a good um middle ground that was able to be reached.
- 0:35 I think this solution particularly is a good way to humanely um deport illegal immigrants.
- 0:44 Um again, this is a case-by-case issue.
- 0:47 Each person, each immigrant has its has their their own reasons for coming.
- 0:51 But I think as a nation, if we stick, if we have a law, I think we should stick to it.
- 0:59 Um whatever that law is.
- 1:00 If it's a big enough issue, that it should be amended.
- 1:03 Um and you know, I bel as for the taxpayer side of things, a one-way flight back to let's say a Latin American country is a lot cheaper than what taxpayer money would be spent on someone who illegally stayed in the country for years at a time.
- 1:27 So I think it's a difference of five hundred dollars to maybe thousands.
- 1:34 I you can't really put a number on it, but I think it's a it's a reasonable and humane way of addressing an issue that's been uh kind of tearing our country apart.
- 1:45 Um and you know, I think most people who come from legal immigrant families will have a similar opinion to me.
- 1:53 Maybe not, but from my experience, it's uh I think we all share um kind of similar similar values when it comes to this stuff because there is a system in place.
- 2:03 Um, so yeah.
