  1. 0:00 Hey y'all, my name is Adi Patel.
  2. 0:02 I'm a student at the University of Georgia.
  3. 0:04 And I was sitting here watching this TV show about cars, and they were comparing gasoline cars and electric cars and the pros and cons of each pretty much.
  4. 0:14 And they brought up electric cars and how they're better for the environment while they're being driven on the roads compared to gasoline car, obviously, because they don't emit as many fossil fuels into the atmosphere.
  5. 0:24 But I started thinking about how to make an electric car.
  6. 0:28 And so I started looking up these things, and I found out that in order to make an an EV car, you have to go through an extensive mining process.
  7. 0:37 And in this mining process, electric cars need EV batteries.
  8. 0:42 And so in order to make these EV batteries, they consist of minerals such as lithium and all these other types of things that require a lot of energy and resources to mine.
  9. 0:54 And so I found that to make these lithium-ion batteries that are necessary in almost every electric car, you have to spend tons of money and resources and water to mine to mine these um ions.
  10. 1:09 And so the mines that the mines often require huge amounts of water and resources and they're often very unsafe for humans to work in.
  11. 1:18 So at the end of the day, how environmentally benef how environmentally beneficial are electric cars?
  12. 1:25 Because at the end of the day, in order to make these EV batteries, you have to spend almost three times more carbon, you have to put almost three times more carbon into the atmosphere than just driving a regular car.
  13. 1:37 So it's this is a huge unknown topic that people don't really know about in the car industry.
  14. 1:43 And I think it should it definitely needs to be brought out more to the public so people really understand how these EV cars are made and how detrimental they are to our environment.
  15. 1:54 Please let me know y'all's thoughts and
