Adi Patel0:00 Hey y'all, my name's Audie Patel and I'm a student at the University of Georgia, and recently I was just walking through campus through our uh student center, and I came across a bunch of poster boards and people with their tables set up and um a bunch of instances of freedom of speech and people just displaying their ideas and thoughts to other people just trying to spread information.0:24 And then I went to this app called Yik Yak, and there were hundreds and thousands of people on this app just pretty much talking about how either they disagreed or agreed with the thoughts that were being represented on campus.0:39 And I kind of got to thinking how social media it really influences the availability of freedom of speech, and how there are certain instances where freedom of speech can be limited by social media, such as people banning or taking down certain posts and how it um certain posts can be censorized.1:00 And I was just wondering the impact that social media has on the freedom of speech.1:06 And so I think social media is the one of the best inventions that our generation has compared to older generations, such as the culture in like the 1900s, how they didn't have access to it.1:22 But now that this our generation has access to social media, people have been able to voice their opinions online and spread their opinions in a much easier way.1:31 But to what extent does freedom of speech still stay in place whenever companies like Facebook or Instagram start t censor censoring certain posts or banning certain individuals from posting.1:45 Um a political example is um I'm pretty sure Donald Trump was banned from X from Twitter for a good while.1:55 And that just kind of shows how I mean no matter what his political opinions are or anybody's political opinions are any opinion they have, they want to vote voice the public, they can g they can still have the ability to get censored and banned from these online platforms.2:12 And so my question to people to answer, you can discuss in the comments.2:17 Um to what extent is freedom of speech severely limited and through social media and could this be could this technically count as a violation of your First Amendment right?2:28 Yeah, let me know in the comments.
