  1. 0:00 So I was having a conversation recently with a girl who's not from the United States, she's from Amsterdam, and we were talking about foods and kind of you know the FDA, how in America there's so many foods, ingredients, chemicals that are allowed in our food that are basically banned in every single other country, corn syrup being a prime example that most people are aware of.
  2. 0:24 And you know, I kind of as all had always thought that it was a cost-based thing, you know, these ingredients, you know, basically cost less and they keep our food fresh for longer because they're they act as preservatives, and all in all, that helps to save money in the long run.
  3. 0:42 But she kind of, you know, introduced me to a new perspective which I'd never really heard before, but I'm sure is a well-known idea, but I guess I was just never exposed to it.
  4. 0:54 But that basically the US government and the FDA does this on purpose to essentially increase health risks and disease and sickness amongst the population, which in turn profits the United States in like health bills, medical bills, um, all that stuff.
  5. 1:19 And you know, my first reaction to that was that can't be true.
  6. 1:23 There's no way that our government is, you know, basically trying to not kill us but get us close to death, essentially, so that we pay them more money to stay alive.
  7. 1:34 Like that sounds so twisted and cruel.
  8. 1:36 But then when you really think about it, you know, is it the craziest thing that our government could possibly be doing?
  9. 1:43 No, I'm sure there's a lot of other stuff.
  10. 1:46 But yeah, it really raises the question: is that the true reason, or is the true reason, you know, just the first one, you know, cutting costs, having a food last longer, which saves money, or is it just you know, all together, all the reasons combined?
  11. 2:01 Anyways, let me know you guys' thoughts because it's for me kind of a crazy concept, but maybe it's already well known.
