- 0:00 Okay.
- 0:01 My next topic is gonna be about healthcare as a human right um and having universal health care, um, which essentially means that all standard services are free um via taxes.
- 0:14 Um and people don't need to go get private insurance.
- 0:19 Um in my opinion, it wouldn't necessarily cover like extra um surgeries, it wouldn't cover cosmetic surgeries, things like that, but for basic um health care, this is really important.
- 0:30 Um it's not really just about like the policy or the political aspect, it's also just about the human rights and like human dignity.
- 0:37 Um because every person should be allowed um the health care that keeps them alive, and because um insurance costs and just out-of-pocket costs for healthcare are so high, a lot of people don't have that.
- 0:51 Um, and in turn, their health gets neglected, whether that's dental health, mental health, physical health, things like that.
- 0:57 Um, yeah, denying people health care really harms individuals, it harms families, um, and it makes people healthy people are more engaged in their community, they're more willing to give back, um, and they're better able to contribute to the economy.
- 1:16 And then kind of circling back to the basic human right of it.
- 1:20 Um many countries around the world already have it as a hum basic human right.
- 1:25 Um, and people should not be denied health care just because of their economic standing um in society.
- 1:34 Um, and also their quality of health care should be the same as those who do have really good insurance.
- 1:40 Um and so, like in other countries, um Japan, Germany, Canada, they have um healthcare is a basic right for them, and so in these systems, I think a lot of people live longer, have healthier lives, um, and overall um nothing's really left to chance when it comes to human life.
- 2:03 Um I think that a lot of people argue that it's too expensive.
- 2:08 Um, but I think that investing in healthcare for everyone um is actually better in the long term.
- 2:17 Um because you can prevent the illnesses that cause you know long-term issues.
- 2:23 You have a stronger workforce, there's more people contributed to the economy.
- 2:26 Um, so I don't think healthcare should be a luxury.
- 2:28 I think it should be a basic human right, and that we should have universal health care in the United States.
