Daphne Hall0:00 Hi guys.0:00 I'm here to talk today about the Iranian nuclear weapons program.0:05 I think that after June, when the US bombed a lot of their nuclear facilities, there was a lot of controversy on whether Iran should have a nuclear weapons program or not.0:16 I think that my biggest reasoning against it is credibility in the Mid East, the Middle East, sorry.0:24 I think that they argue, I think a lot of pro like Iranian nuclear weapons program people argue that Israel can't be the only ones to have a nuclear weapons program that's this developed, and that Iran should be able to, in order to fight back and protect itself.0:40 I think that when that, if Iran were to have a nuclear weapons program, it would snowball in countries like Saudi Arabia would basically be like, it's our turn now because if they're allowed to have it, we're allowed to have it.0:53 And I think that that just is causing too many issues.0:56 Um I also just don't think that they have the capacity to build um right now, and I think that we should nip that in the bud.1:05 After the um after the um attacks this summer, a lot of their facilities were severely damaged.1:15 Um a lot of their scientists were killed, which um is detrimental to their knowledge of building a nuclear weapons program.1:22 Um also something that I'm something that is really interesting to me about the credibility of Iran is that um it's actually against their Ayatollah Community's fatwa to um support nuclear weapons program, and so they're kind of going back on their word.1:40 They're going back on the leading word of the nation, um, which I think just really speaks to their credibility and lack thereof.1:49 Um but as a whole, I just don't think it's effective.1:52 I also think they have domestic issues to focus on.1:54 Inflation has gone up significantly in the country, unemployment is above 7% now, um, and a lot of citizens are suffering from mismanagement of money and resources as well as um corruption.2:09 And I think that the energy spent on nuclear weapons program could be and should be better spent on domestic programs.
