Luca Pietro0:00 I think it's funny to take a look at the journey of uh music preferences that my friends and I had growing up, um being a twenty-one year old junior in college right now.0:10 So I think it's pretty funny because growing up I was really into you know, the pop and hip hop and elementary school and going into middle school, and then all of a sudden my friends and I started listening to more of rap music and pop music when we were around the age of when competitive sports became a little bit more competitive for us uh young individuals.0:32 And then it's funny to see that kind of filter out throughout high school and then sort of shift to music from the seventies, eighties, nineties, uh early two thousands.0:43 Um stuff my parents listened to when they were when they were my age.0:47 So I think it's funny to see how much, especially in the college culture, how people love live music and they love music from many years ago.0:56 So I think that's interesting to see the journey of music preferences uh as one matures and gets old.1:02 So
Wesley Joyce0:00 It definitely is interesting to see how everybody's music has changed over the years and the way you describe yours, Luca, me and my friends follow pretty much an identical pattern to that.0:12 And you know, it's funny when you travel to go visit friends at different places and they're listening to the same songs that you're just digging up that maybe your dad used to listen to or whatever and it's like wow, we really have like the people that walk the same life as you really have all come to the same or similar conclusions about musicians.0:30 And that's really funny.0:31 But something I've always wondered with this is you know how now we're listening to our parents' music?0:36 I wonder if our parents' music or our grandparents' music was ever cool to our parents.0:41 Cause now like the vast majority of what I listen to is my parents' music and like it's kinda nice, like we bond over it.0:47 But like were they listening to their grandparents' music and because I don't really think mine were, but I don't know.
Vansh Patel0:00 Luca, I think your point about how music taste changes so drastically throughout someone's life is a very valid point.0:08 And it's something that I've definitely noticed myself going from definitely more pop music I was younger to rap in uh high school and now kind of transitioning to older music and really more live live stuff as well.0:23 But uh I also wanted to add one thing, how music taste has changed within the past five years.0:30 I think the expansion of social media has led to a whole a whole change in the music industry.0:38 I think a lot of producers and marketers are looking for those short-term, those little clips of sounds that are catchy because our attention spans have been reduced due to social media.0:52 And I think all they're looking for now is that little five or ten second hit that gets people hooked, and that's where the money is now, unfortunately, instead of the whole quality of the song.1:05 And another thing now that's really apparent is the face behind the music.1:11 I think back in the day nobody cared what the artist looked like if the music was of quality.1:19 But now, regardless of uh the quality of the music, the appearance of the artist makes some of the biggest difference.1:30 And I really think that's unfair to most musicians because some of them are labeled to never have a chance just because of the way they look.1:40 And I think that's a topic that really needs to be addressed in the music industry.1:45 So great point.
