Davidson Potts0:00 The US has now revoked six visas from six different people of all different nationalities, and it's all for criticizing the death of Charlie Kirk.0:12 And so Vice President JD Vance and officials from the Trump administration have encouraged people to call out even more people who are are doing are giving offensive language to Kirk's death online.0:25 And so the instance of Kirk being assassinated for promoting free speech in and of itself is a representation of America right now and how free speech is dying, just how he was assassinated.0:36 But this also contradicts the right's point of view, um, that they are censoring people from saying whatever they want, and it even comes to these extremes.0:45 And so this can also be seen on the left with their cancel culture, um, in the instance of individual like George Floyd who was killed or assassinated.0:55 So make what you want of comparing those two individuals very different.0:59 Uh but let me know what you guys think of free speech in the current state of America right now.
Leeza Kurtz0:00 Yeah, so I think what we're seeing is a lot of political hypocrisy on, and I'm not just gonna say just the right, but you know, with the whole George Floyd thing, I do think there is some danger in comparing these two situations because they are so vastly different.0:18 But the one comparison you can make is you know the freedom of speech part of it, how kind of the left was looking to censor things being spoken on the topic around the George Floyd shooting, and now kind of the right is doing the same thing with the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and I think that no matter what, freedom of speech is one of the most important ideals that our country was you know founded on, and it's just a lot of hypocrisy in my opinion from the right, people who were so angry about any sort of like cancel culture or um freedom of speech being infringed upon during the George Floyd time is now pushing for censorship against people who are speaking out who are speaking their opinions on the Charlie Kirk murder, and obviously, like I said, the two situations are not comparable in any way, shape or form, but people posting a simple opinion and then getting their visas revoked, not being able to get their education because of because of it is simply ridiculous, and if people can't see that that is the start of a really really big issue that could lead to complete political censorship, then they need to look clearer.
