Wesley Joyce0:00 So this semester's been a pretty busy one for me.0:02 Um trying to make some money, you know, almost done with college.0:06 Um starting to think about the next steps and trying to get my finances in order and pay for myself to get out of here.0:11 So I've been looking to make money, you know, pretty much any way I can.0:14 I'm out here working at a a woodyard that I found recently.0:18 Um and I was just curious, you know, there's a lot of there's a lot of people that you know run these different side hustles and the guy that's running this one is a chiropractor with multiple different practices and he's still out here um with us most of the time overseeing this business and making sure it goes right.0:34 And you know, I won't go too deep into his business model, but he's got an insane setup out here, and it seems like you know it's a very easy thing to get up and running.0:43 Um and he pays us fine, you know, we we get we we make um we we earn our $20 an hour for sure, but um it's a it's a pretty fair deal going on out here and this guy's making a killing off of it on top of what he already does.0:56 So I was just curious, you know, what are some of the more creative side hustles that y'all have seen and that you know that your friends are doing?1:03 Maybe some of the more cost-effective niche ones as well.1:06 Um be a long time before, you know, us younger guys probably have time to focus on side hustles and things like that, but it is very interesting.1:17 There's a lot of people making money in a lot of different ways.1:19 So I'm just curious what are some of the more um unique ways, maybe or some of the more effective ways that you've heard of uh some of your friends or maybe your parents' friends, you know, making a little bit of cash on the side because uh having working out here and collecting this guy's invoices for him, it really makes me um wonder how I can make some some something extra um later on.1:41 So yeah, what do y'all think?
Vansh Patel0:00 Wesley, I think you bring up a question that almost every teenager is asking themselves uh right now or throughout the past.0:08 Uh I mean, for your example, you bring up uh physical side hustles, and for that, I've definitely heard of a lot of creative ones.0:18 I think some of the most common are uh selling copper uh or recycling copper, for example, uh through old wires and just stripping it and selling it.0:30 Uh some other possible ones are uh I don't know, it takes a little more effort, but pressure washing, window cleaning, just things like that.0:43 They're definitely not uh easy jobs, but they provide uh pretty high forms of income.0:52 I mean, window cleaning I know is the easy one, uh just door-to-door sales, things like that, pressure washing and things like that.0:59 Those are definitely ones that I've done before in my past and have definitely been helpful.1:05 Uh for how little time you actually put into uh just finding business.1:12 Uh it it pays a fair amount.1:15 Uh but I wanted to talk about how it's really changing to the digital platforms uh where side hustles are being born right now.1:27 I know a couple years ago we had the rise of drop shipping, and you know, as soon as it got popular, it was becoming automated.1:36 But at the early stages of drop shipping, there were definitely people out there controlling the markets and they were making very generous amounts of money and I know from that it shifted to uh kind of commission-based platforms, I forget what it's called, but like Amaz affiliate programs, right?1:58 Uh posting products that you use and getting commission from your sales uh was another big one.2:06 And I think lastly now with the age of social media, you're almost wasting an opportunity to not use it.2:14 Uh some of these platforms are paying so much that if you just have a somewhat original idea and get online to post it and face the social stigma that you may have to from your friends, but I think social media is where it's at right now, the creator rewards program on TikTok.2:33 Uh just affiliate marketing with that also.2:36 I know some of these kids are just having links in their TikTok for products and the TikTok shop and they're making almost full-time salaries from a couple minutes a day of posting a little simple video.2:50 And I think that's really where it's headed.2:54 Uh although while people transition to digital side hustles, there's always gonna be a market for this physical things like you mentioned.3:03 Uh the lumber, the copper, the uh just kind of some of the simple things out there.3:09 I think there's always gonna be a market for that, and I think if you're able to pick up a a market that's untapped uh like that in your area, I think it's I think it's a smart idea.3:24 So yeah, I think you made an excellent point and posed an excellent question.
Noah McDonald0:00 Yeah, Wesley, great video.0:01 I think this is a really interesting topic.0:03 Um and yeah, there's just a couple that came to mind.0:07 Uh one that's really lucrative right now is is the ice shipping business, you know.0:11 People on Sunday, they're not really feeling like they want to drive to the to the gas station, to the BP to get their ice.0:19 So what a lot of these companies are doing and uh like especially big cities, um, you can see a lot of this is they're offering these shipping for like catering for tailgates.0:29 It really depends, and they'll deliver the ice for you um for a small cost on top of that charge.0:34 And yeah, they get a lot of orders.0:37 Um there's there's a lot of upside.0:39 I really think this is an undervalued business right now.0:41 But yeah, it's definitely something you should look into.
