- 0:00 Yeah, Luca, I like that point you brought up at the end.
- 0:02 I do think you need to realize and take into account um you know what is the societal norm when it comes to EVs versus regular gas engine cars.
- 0:11 Um like especially now that the tax credit is gone, you know, for someone to go out of their way to get an EV, there needs to be some sort of internal motivation now.
- 0:21 Um because when they compare themselves to you know all the cars around them, obviously they're gonna see more of the gas cars um and that's what they're gonna be more inclined to get.
- 0:29 They're cheaper to purchase initially.
- 0:32 Um so there's gonna have to be some sort of internal motivation to make someone want to get an EV.
- 0:35 Um, and that would probably have to come from you know, wanting to um, I don't know, be more uh, you know, be better for the environment when it comes to what car you're driving, um, you know, be more sustainable, or you know, maybe say, well, I don't well won't have to pay for gas down the road.
- 0:53 But that point you brought up was very interesting about you know mining for the lithium and the pollution that that causes, because I think there is this stigma saying in people really pushing for EVs or saying, you know, if we all you know, if we all switch to EVs or or if the majority switch to EVs, then you know pollution will decrease significantly.
- 1:08 When in reality, um I just don't think that's true.
- 1:12 I think if you look at um carbon dioxide emissions um are actually not the main driving force behind, you know, with these climate the change in climate and the change in the atmosphere.
- 1:22 Obviously, it is a um, you know, it is one cause.
- 1:27 Um but if you look at the emissions from say factories and stuff like that, it's ten times what we see from cars.
- 1:32 Um you could even put down to you know over agriculture, like trying to feed too many people.
- 1:39 Um the amount of cows we have in America or just in the world in general, um, you know, the methane that cows produce is like ten times as potent as what you see from car emissions.
- 1:49 So there's definitely other factors leading to the change in atmosphere, and people are kind of trying to push this narrative that changing to EVs will be like a solution for you know the change in our climate.
- 1:59 And while it may positively impact it, we don't know.
- 2:02 I mean, if everyone switches to EVs and all that, they're trying to find all that lithium.
- 2:05 That's a good point that you brought up.
- 2:07 Um so I agree.
- 2:08 I don't think we'll see a major shift to EVs anytime soon.
