- 0:00 Hey, so I kind of want to come out here and talk about climate change and the uh policies around that and how that can affect the economy.
- 0:07 Um I kind of wanted to dive into the question of whether the government can actually fight climate change without hurting jobs.
- 0:16 And so pretty much my whole thought process and you know my ideas on this is that whenever we talk about climate change, someone and someone brings up jobs, it's like if we stop using oil, what's gonna happen to all the people that work in the industry?
- 0:31 Um and that's a fair question.
- 0:32 But I don't think it's just about stopping something.
- 0:35 I think it's about like more so shifting.
- 0:37 I think if we shift more towards green energy like wind and solar, that in itself can create a lot of new jobs, maybe even more than what we have right now.
- 0:46 Um and I think that it just takes balance, you know.
- 0:49 The real challenge is not um whether or not we should we should just completely stop one or the other.
- 0:55 I think it's the idea of shifting towards one and phasing them out and so that there's a balance between the two.
- 1:01 Um, you know, the real challenge is just gonna be helping workers move from one type of a job to another.
- 1:06 You know, if the government can make that transition a lot more fair and easier, we can protect both the planet and along with people's paychecks so that the economy doesn't take a hit um and the standard of living amongst people doesn't go down.
- 1:17 So I do think that um there needs to be some changes made to this, but I think if we have an idea and an outlook kind of like along the lines of shifting rather than stopping and starting something new, I think that'll help a lot of things.
