  1. 0:00 So I made a video about cap and trade markets, and I kind of want to dive a little bit deeper in terms of um kind of the EV versus internal combustion engine market.
  2. 0:10 Um the government sets an emissions cap on like polluting vehicles, and obviously electric vehicles don't are zero emissions, and so they also give out zero emission vehicles, ZEV credits for uh a certain amount.
  3. 0:27 It's not one per car, but it's like one per several thousand cars produced.
  4. 0:33 Anyway, so Tesla, obviously, an big electric vehicle producer, has a ton of these ZEV credits.
  5. 0:40 Um, and so they can sell these credits, much like the cap and trade, they can sell these credits to uh companies like Ford or Ram or Honda, who are not producing enough zero emission vehicles to meet the government's emission regulations.
  6. 0:54 Um and so if I look here in 2024, Tesla received 2.76 billion dollars in revenue just from selling these ZEV credits.
  7. 1:04 Uh 2023 it was 1.79 billion, 2022 is 1.78 billion.
  8. 1:09 Um, and that just goes to show you that not only is Tesla making money from selling its own cars, but it's also making a ton of money just from being kind of the leading uh battery-electric car in the United States.
