Luca Pietro0:00 A big problem that is deeply affected the United States for the past 20, 30 years is really the gun violence that we've experienced between school shootings, mass murders throughout the the entire country at you know schools, public events, venues.0:20 Um although it it is the the deeper issue is the the gun violence and all of the the factors that come with that, but at least to be able to prevent it, um having a better security infrastructure.0:33 And I kind of see this when I go to when I go to personal events on my own.0:37 When I go to sports games, when I'm at school, it feels like there is almost a lack of security, which in this day and age kind of makes me a little worried um because of how much many problems that our country has had with this.0:52 So um I don't know exactly what the solution is to it.0:57 I'm not really pro or con um, you know, specific regulations surrounding that.1:04 However, I do know that it is a problem in our country and that we we have to do something to fix it.
Thomas Freer0:00 I mean, Luca, you really hit the nail on the head there.0:03 And um, I actually am gonna take a side on this.0:06 Not an extreme side, but I do think that, for example, if you look at Georgia Tech's campus, we have I think somewhere between 50 and 70 um GTPD police officers.0:21 Um, their cars are everywhere.0:23 You can't go to any part of campus without seeing the the blue light of the security call button or an actual officer in a vehicle.0:31 They've got many different types of vehicles.0:34 Um, and I think they do an outstanding job at Georgia Tech in terms of keeping us safe.0:40 But um if you look specifically at um I don't know, like high school shootings.0:50 It seems that many of these schools don't have armed guards, and I'm on the side of yes, we need to do something about gun control, but at the same time, banning all guns instantly is not gonna solve the gun problem.1:05 They're here, they're already here.1:07 I do think that if you are going to defend your banks with armed guards, you might as well defend your high school or younger students with arms.1:17 I'm not saying there needs to be guns everywhere, but more presence than what there is because I know at Georgia Tech we have an absurd amount of GTPD police presence, and they're not just here looking for threats, they're also looking out for us, making sure we're acting safe and responsible.1:34 But it works.1:35 I really think it works at Georgia Tech, and I think other schools should follow if they aren't already.
