  1. 0:00 Okay, so I recently started DJing um with my friend, and one thing that I've seen a lot of since we joined um SoundCloud to pull our tracks from to play on our DJ board um is that there are a lot of remixes of like popular songs.
  2. 0:19 So these popular artists and DJs will create their own song and it will grow in popularity, and then all these people on SoundCloud or whatever other music apps there are will create these like remixes that essentially is the same song and they tweak beats and they might build up beat drops a little bit differently, use different instruments in the background and stuff like that.
  3. 0:45 So and I see maybe ten to fifteen of these remixes, and sometimes um the remix becomes even more popular than the original song, and my question is is that should the artist be able to copyright or claim some of the revenue generated by these remixes that are becoming popular than the actual original song?
  4. 1:09 So I don't think it's really fair personally, I don't think it's really fair for these people to work these DJs and these artists to work very hard to create their own original content, their original music, and play it and have people love it, only for it to be like surpassed and not really obviously they still like to see it being played by these remixes and they know that it's their song, but at the end of the day it's a remix made by somebody else and they've changed stuff about the original song.
  5. 1:39 And so my question is that should uh these remix remixes be regulated um in some sort of way, and should these artists and DJs be able to copyright or prevent um these remixes from being made if they would like to.
