  1. 0:00 Hey guys.
  2. 0:02 Today I want to also talk about healthcare.
  3. 0:05 Um I wanted to ask a question and see what you guys think.
  4. 0:09 But do you guys think that healthcare should be free for everyone in the United States?
  5. 0:13 Um healthcare is probably one of the biggest dates in the debates in the US.
  6. 0:17 Some people believe that it should be a basic human right that everyone deserves access to doctors, hospitals, and medicine, no matter how much money they make.
  7. 0:25 Others think that a government-run system would be too expensive and then would lower the quality of care.
  8. 0:31 They believe that private insurance and competition to keep the system better and more efficient.
  9. 0:35 They sorry, they a lot of people believe that private insurance and competition keep the system better um and more efficient.
  10. 0:42 I think there's truth in both sides, honestly.
  11. 0:44 I don't think that anyone should go broke paying medical bills because they got sick.
  12. 0:48 Um but I think that we also need it, we need a system that rewards good doctors and innovations as well.
  13. 0:54 Um I don't know if the answer is all public or all private.
  14. 0:59 I think it primarily should probably be a mix that makes sure everyone gets the healthcare that they need without overloading the system.
  15. 1:06 You know, I know a lot of people these days they're drowning in medical debt, and it's kind of heartbreaking to see that because a lot of times it's life-changing treatment or life-saving treatment, if that honestly.
  16. 1:19 And it's uh it's a pretty pretty interesting topic, and I would like to know what you guys' thoughts are on that.

Thomas Freer

  1. 0:00 Yeah, um, this is a great topic, and I really wanna emphasize on one of the things you did mention, but go a little deeper in the fact that many critics of public free health care believe that it would lower the quality of um our healthcare system in the US.
  2. 0:21 And currently our system, our doctors are you know globally world renowned.
  3. 0:29 Some of the best doctors in the world are in the US on the East Coast in Atlanta, maybe New York, or maybe in Los Angeles, and that is because there is money to be made.
  4. 0:41 And I just worry that if we completely publicize healthcare, that those doctors would flee.
  5. 0:50 They'd go to other countries where they can make more money, or they'd, you know, there would not be nearly as high an emphasis on um becoming pre-med or going to med school in the US.
  6. 1:02 That would hurt.
  7. 1:03 Um, that industry, the colleges that offer med school, um, and it would just lower the competition, it would make less competent doctors.
  8. 1:13 But I do agree, like you said, it should be some sort of mix.
  9. 1:17 Uh people being in medical debt their entire lives over something they can't control is just it's just horrible.
  10. 1:24 And I do think that's something that the public can take care of together.
  11. 1:29 Um, it's just gonna be expensive, and I I think that that budget balancing has to come out of some other part of the government.
