- 0:00 Hey y'all, what's up?
- 0:01 When's the last time you use something like Chat GPT to help you with schoolwork or just to search for something on the internet?
- 0:07 Many people don't know how ChatGPT actually works.
- 0:11 You see, it's not just on your computer, it uses large data centers that take up a ton of power.
- 0:16 But how do these get powered?
- 0:18 Right now, a lot of companies do use gas power.
- 0:20 However, a lot of these big companies like Amazon, Google, OpenAI have pledged carbon neutrality in the future and they have found a solution that will help fix this problem.
- 0:32 Nuclear energy is perfect to do this because it runs 24-7 and it creates a ton of power that is completely carbon-free.
- 0:41 And by doing this, they can power these large data centers that take up as much power as like small cities.
- 0:48 And they've already started.
- 0:50 In March of 2024, Amazon spent $650 million on a data center campus in Pennsylvania that's powered directly by a nuclear plant.
- 0:59 And on top of that, OpenAI is developing small micro reactors specifically to power AI.
- 1:05 So while we see the amazing things AI can do on the screens, the hidden engine making it all possible is the quiet resurgence in nuclear energy.
- 1:13 Turns out the future of artificial intelligence might be more dependent on the power of the atom than any of us realized.
